"When I see a life that's broken, give me words that should be spoken - for I remember the pain. When I see the teardrops falling - Lord remind me of my calling.I Want to Spend My Life Mending Broken People..." This was a song I would sing as a young girl..."Let my words heal a heart that hurts...I want to spend my whole life mending broken people."

I would sit at the piano and try to figure out the chords, and I would sing…sing…sing. This is a way I relieve stress and connect with God.
Tonight I am the on-call chaplain at the hospital. Before and after I ate my dinner I stopped by the Children’s Chapel, I pulled up another song I used to sing in college and beyond, and I sang. There is a piano here, and I was able to sing and play as if no one else was around.
Over time, I have realized that I cannot remove pain, I can only feel it with people.
I have also realized that I cannot heal a heart that hurts, but I can spend my life trying to help, soothe, encourage, build up, walk with, listen, cry with, and just be present in the midst of difficult moments.
Tonight, I saw a post that said: “Speak words that rebuild the torn down places in others.”
Yes, that is what I want to do.
I want to help people rebuild. And God knows we need this now - more than I ever remember.
I have been the recipient of so much love, so many repairing words, so much encouragement, and it reminds me that no matter how dark the night may be – it is those who are the light that spark hope within. And no matter how tasteless the world around us seems – those who are salt remind us that life is worth savoring. Finally, no matter how bereft of compassion, empathy and mercy the rhetoric all around – the very example of Jesus, who looking upon the crowd, as lost and hungry as they were, was moved with compassion in his core. So many of you are passionate about empathy! No need to change that!

Yet, we are tired. We are exhausted and overwhelmed by all that we are seeing and hearing. This lovely word above tells the story! "Exhausterwhelmulated" INDEED!!! Do not give up! Persevere. Pray. Love. Hope. Continue being salt, light and love! Jesus did it! That’s enough for me.

March on precious friends…or at least keep limping! You know who you are! We are not giving up on love! You are created in the very Image of God. And YOU ARE LOVED!!!
“I Want to Spend My Life…Mending Broken People…” Yeah, some things should not change…empathy, compassion, salt, light and LOVE! (Oh, and the singing…even though…)

I’ve been listening to Christian radio lately; K-Love and Air One. I turned it on because I needed to draw close to God. Of the many new songs I was introduced to, these really pierced my heart but also gave me hope and comfort.
“Don’t Fight Alone” by Jon Reddick
“Don’t Stop Praying” by Matthew West
“Goodness of God” Cece Williams
“Into the Sea (It’s gonna be okay)”
by Tasha Layton
Keep singing and finding that time with God Teresa.
Keep smiling, keep hoping, keep loving, keep swimming, keep trudging, keep flying, keep drifting, keep wandering, keep climbing, keep sliding, keep crashing, keep walking, keep running, keep bouncing, keep gliding, keep sitting, keep working, keep resting, but please keep doing what you are doing because you are doing the things so many other people just talk about. We love you and your whole family.
